Yoga Freedom Project

The mission of Yoga Freedom Project is to unite the yoga community around the issue of sex trafficking through education, awareness, fundraising for organizations we believe in and the use of yoga as a healing tool for trafficking survivors.

Last January January, Yoga Freedom Project joined forces with The Somaly Mam Foundation (www.somaly.org) to create a global yoga month to raise awareness and funding to help bring an end to sex trafficking. It was an inspiring month where we saw just how powerful, loving and strong our global yoga community can be!

Somaly Mam is a survivor of sex slavery who has dedicated her life to saving victims and empowering survivors of sex trafficking. Money raised during this month will go back to the Somaly Mam Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the eradication of sex trafficking and modern-day slavery and the empowerment of its survivors. SMF supports victim services, empowerment programs such as job skills and education, and advocacy and awareness campaigns.

In New York City, the month ended with a huge Yoga Event and celebration on January 31st, featuring Elena Brower, Dana Flynn, Cyndi Lee, Jodie Rufty, Alan Finger, Sri Dharma Mittra,Sierra Bender, Tricia Donegan, and Suzanne Sterling! It was absolutely magical, powerful and inspiring!
